Mise En Place

brunoise

Hey there. This is an odd post that is not a recipe, but more an experiment in knife skills. On my most recent Summer Spoon post, I talk about the importance that The Chefs place on knife skills at The Restaurant. Like Chef M said to me on Friday, It is the difference between having good tasting food that looks mediocre and sloppy, or having good tasting food that looks stunning, therefore making it taste even better.

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Like I warned you, Anticiplate is on the back-burner right now. I am hardly cooking, and have been spending my time Staging at The Restaurant three days a week, vacationing to tropical places, hardly getting back into ballet shape, and blogging over at Summer Spoon. I miss Anticiplate, though, and that simple life I led before the insanity of this summer project. So, keep reading Summer Spoon because that is where I am spending most of my down time.

I miss you all though. I promise I will be back soon, cooking and creating recipes, and using my new Canon Rebel SLR camera I just purchased, and have hardly used.

Life will get more simple when I start back to my 2009-2010 season with PNB on July 27.

Come Visit Summer Spoon!

If some of you don’t already know, I am doing two internships this summer that I am writing about on my new blog Summer Spoon. I have not been cooking much because I have been working late nights and on my days off I just want to go to restaurants. I sound like a chef, huh?!

So, if you haven’t already, you can read about my adventures at http://www.summerspoon.blogspot.com

Can’t wait to get back in MY kitchen!

A Dinner Party

There is nothing better in life than good friends, laughing till your stomach hurts, and amazing food. I am constantly blessed to have all of these things. This and this were the hits of that evening. This salad came in a close second, and well this could have been better. But, the best recipe was the combination of my favorite people, stories of grandeur, and whipped cream. Lots, and lots, of whipped cream.

My talented cousin (in law), Matt, took these pictures. He was kind enough to share them with me, and now with you. I also feel blessed by all of you guys, the readers. Anticiplate would not be what it is without you. Although you all don’t know it, every time someone comments or just reads my blog, I am filled with a joy inside that I cannot describe. Thank you for taking time to read this little gem in my life.

I hope you all have a great week. There is something to be said for a fresh start. There have been a lot of those around here.
