I’ve been busy. But, that is no excuse. There is a lot on my mind. A new job. A new schedule. A new beginning. I feel like writing in phrases today.

I like how I feel, actually. Uncomfortable in my own skin, but liberated at the same time. There is more to tell, but I am absolutely certain that this is not the right time or place to tell you all the things that are actually going on. But, one thing is for sure, it is back to square one.
I have started a new little project, which I have subtly hinted on this blog, but that I am not going to “announce”. The people who want to know about it will find a way, or I have already told you. It starts on Saturday, and it is going to be amazing. I am actually partnering up with Chef B, the very first chef I ever worked with the very first day of my Stage last June. Fitting, actually. I still feel like a Stage when I work with him. AND. He is still just as amazing to me as the first day.
This picture I took is odd, just like my writing today. But I like it. Dark room. Plates stacked. Glasses polished. Napkins folded tightly like an envelope. The picture reminds me of a restaurant right before the doors have opened. A lingering darkness. No life. Because the food cooked and the people eating make a restaurant what it is.
I like restaurants. A lot.
I am off to celebrate a birthday. A beginning of a new year for a friend. We will eat at How to Cook a Wolf. We will drink lots of wine. It is much needed. I love that two of my favorite chefs will be cooking for me. It is definitely better than I can do for myself right now.
Now, why am I not cooking at home, you ask? Because my home cooking is absolutely non-existent. There has been one exception since I have last posted. A chef friend and I spent twenty dollars each to by random ingredients and assemble a meal together. That is about as exciting as it has gotten. Bare with me. It may be a while.

I love reading your blog and hearing your story. I actually graduated with a dance major at UW in June and moved out to NYC in the summer. I decided to pursue my love of food though and am currently working at Bouchon Bakery trying to decide if I want to be a pastry chef or work the front of house aspect more. Please post more about your adventure because I find it very inspiring.
